Step 1 – Mark the User as a Fee Earner in DPSSQLConfig
Open DPSSQLConfig and log in with your DPS credentials.
In the left-hand pane, click Users and Groups.
Find the user in question in the list.
Double-click the user to open their details.
On the right-hand side, under User settings, tick Is Fee Earner.
Save and close the user details screen.
The user will now be flagged as a fee earner and should appear in the fee earner drop-down for opportunities.
⚠️ Important
Once a user is marked as a fee earner, you will need to set up their default cost and any required rates in your configuration (for example, default hourly rate, non-chargeable rate, etc.).
Step 2 – If the User Still Doesn’t Appear (Browser Checks)
If you have confirmed that Is Fee Earner is ticked but the user still does not show in the drop-down, it might be a browser caching issue.
First, try using a different browser (for example, switch from Chrome to Edge or vice versa) to see if the user appears there.
Then follow the steps for your browser below.
Google Chrome
If the issue only happens in Chrome:
Open Chrome.
Click the three dots in the top-right corner.
Click Settings.
Search for or open Clear browsing data.
Set Time range to All time.
Select Cached images and files (and any other relevant options).
Click Clear data.
Check Chrome is up to date
In Settings, click About Chrome (bottom left).
Chrome will search for updates and install them.
Restart Chrome if prompted.
Allow all cookies
In Settings, click Privacy and security.
Click Cookies and other site data.
Select Allow all cookies.
Try loading the opportunity screen again and check the fee earner drop-down.
Microsoft Edge
If the issue only happens in Edge:
Open Edge.
Click the three dots in the top-right corner.
Click Settings.
Go to Privacy, search, and services.
Under Clear browsing data, click Choose what to clear.
Set Time range to All time.
Select Cached images and files (and any other relevant options).
Click Clear now.
Check Edge is up to date
In Settings, click About Microsoft Edge (bottom left).
Edge will search for and install any updates.
Restart Edge if prompted.
Allow third-party cookies
Click the three dots in the top-right corner.
Click Settings.
Click Cookies and site permissions.
Click Manage and delete cookies and site data.
Make sure Block third-party cookies is unticked.
Reload the opportunity and check whether the user now appears in the fee earner list.
Still Having Issues?
If the user:
Is correctly marked as Is Fee Earner in DPSSQLConfig, and
You have tried the browser steps above,
…but they still do not appear as a selectable fee earner:
Please raise a new case online and reference the title of this article.
Include a brief summary of:
The user’s name and initials
Confirmation that Is Fee Earner is ticked
Which browsers you’ve tested (Chrome, Edge) and the outcome
This will help the Support Team investigate further.
