We're pleased to announce the latest release of the DPS Mobile Application for Android, Version 5.6.

This update includes various bug fixes detailed below. A PDF copy of the release notes can also be found here.

Matter search crash fix

Issue

DPS Mobile application no longer crashes when searching for matters.

Resolution

β€’ Improved memory management and stability during matter searches

β€’ Enhanced search field visibility on modern Android versions

β€’ Strengthened error handling to prevent crashes during search operations

Impact

Users can now search for matters reliably without experiencing application crashes.

Mobile app breaks when refreshing login and doing MFA

Issue

Fixed an issue where DPS Mobile became unusable after users authenticated with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on the web platform.

Resolution

Enhanced the authentication flow to properly handle MFA login sessions and improved error handling to ensure users can continue using the mobile app without needing to reinstall.

Impact

Users can now seamlessly use DPS Mobile after completing MFA authentication without experiencing app disruption.

Issue when pausing, going back on the recording then recording again will skip to end of recording.

Issue

Dictation slider position lost when pausing during Overwrite mode

Resolution

Previously, when pausing during Overwrite mode and then resuming recording, the dictation slider would jump to the end of the recording instead of continuing from where you paused. This resulted in incomplete overwriting and fragmented dictations.

Impact

The system now correctly preserves your position when pausing in Overwrite mode, ensuring recording resumes exactly where you left off.

Case association issues for dictations

Issue

When creating voice recordings on a matter using the mobile app, Android devices were not correctly associating the recording with matter case reference. While iOS devices successfully linked recordings to matters with the matter number prefix, Android recordings were saved without the matter association being sent to the system.

Resolution

β€’ Voice recordings created on Android now correctly associate with the matter and send the matter reference to the system

β€’ Recording name display now matches iOS behavior, showing the matter prefix during the profiling stage

β€’ Enhanced error logging to help identify any future issues

Impact

Fee earners using Android devices can now confidently record dictations on matters, knowing the recordings will be properly linked to the case file in the system, maintaining the same functionality as iOS users.

Dictation Routing Fix

Issue

Fixed a critical issue where dictations sent from the mobile app without a Group selection were not appearing in the typist's MyJob queue, even when a specific Typist was selected.

Resolution

Corrected backend routing logic that was preventing dictations from being properly delivered to individual typists when no Group was specified. This aligns the Android app behaviour with the expected workflow where users can send dictations directly to a typist without requiring a Group selection.

Impact

Typists will now correctly receive all dictations assigned to them individually, regardless of whether a Group was specified during submission.

Case History Preview not loading

Issue

When previewing matter history records (Email Out, Email In, File Note, Call In, Letter In, Call Out, Letter Out, Key Event, Voice Note) from the History screen resulted in a "Web Page not available" error. The app now correctly displays record previews when accessed via left swipe on a matter. This impacted users on Android mobile app users on Android 10 and above.

Resolution

Updated WebView configuration to properly handle HTML file loading with scoped storage permissions.
