Why managing document version control is important
Manage document version control to ensure the accuracy, integrity, and security of your documents. By managing document versions, you can track changes, maintain a clear audit trail and ensure that all stakeholders are working with the most up-to-date and approved versions of your documents. This not only enhances your professionalism and credibility but also mitigates the risk of using outdated or incorrect information, ultimately contributing to better decision-making and outcomes.
What you can do to manage document version control
Xdraft allows you to create duplicate copies of documents, enabling effective version control for draft documents. Utilise the Xdraft feature to duplicate any editable document. Rename the Xdraft and save it into the file's history, providing a clear record of document versions and changes. Both copies will remain editable.
The New Version feature enhances the Xdraft functionality by allowing you to create a new version of a document. Once a new version is created, the preceding version becomes non-editable, and automatic version numbering is applied. This helps to simplify document management and track changes over time. You can click on any editable document and create a duplicate of that document using the New Version option. The version number will automatically be given and the original document will no longer be editable. This streamlines creating and managing document versions, providing a clear audit trail and simplifying collaboration.
