Why becoming paper-light is important

Transitioning to a paper-light approach offers a range of benefits. It enhances efficiency by enabling easy organisation, retrieval, and sharing of digital documents, boosting productivity.

The move reduces costs associated with physical storage, filing systems, and supplies while improving document security through encryption and cloud storage. Remote access fosters collaboration and client interaction, while backup and disaster recovery ensure data resilience.

Embracing paper-light practices aligns with environmental goals by reducing paper consumption. Compliance becomes smoother with digital systems, and client satisfaction is heightened due to quick document access.

Automated processes reduce administrative workload, and digital document indexing aids fast information retrieval. This strategy will help to prepare your firm for future technological advancements, promoting adaptability and growth. Despite initial investments, the long-term gains make the shift worthwhile for a modern, efficient legal practice.

What you can do to become paper-light

  • Add headers and footers into a designated template to allow other templates using the in-built commands to call this template. When sending emails and documents, the incorporated template adds the relevant details to each document as required.

  • In each matter a designated area known as the file history allows you to store all documents, emails, images, etc. This creates a centralised area for all data, giving additional options to search and group the file history for ease of use.

  • Using the Config. Tool, digital signatures can be added for individual users. These can be assigned to other users to use on behalf of the Fee Earners.
